# Money counter

Canonical interactive tool: https://taskpencil.com/tools/money-counter/

Count U.S. bills and coins by denomination, calculate their total face value, and print a cash-count record.

## How to count cash

1. Sort your cash by denomination and count the number of each bill and coin.

2. Enter a whole-number quantity beside each denomination. Leave denominations you do not have blank.

3. Check the bill subtotal, coin subtotal, and combined total as you enter quantities.

4. Open Slip details to add an optional name, date, or reference. Choose Print deposit slip to print or save a PDF through your browser.

## Calculation and example

Multiply each denomination’s face value by its quantity, then add the amounts. The calculator uses integer cents to avoid floating-point rounding errors.

Three $20 bills, two $5 bills, and four 25¢ quarters total $71.00: $60.00 + $10.00 + $1.00.

## Which denominations does the money counter support?

Bills: $100, $50, $20, $10, $5, $2, and $1. Coins: $1, 50¢ (half dollar), 25¢ (quarter), 10¢ (dime), 5¢ (nickel), and 1¢ (penny). Values are U.S. dollars (USD) and face values, not collectible values.

## What quantities can I enter?

Use whole numbers from 0 to 1,000,000 for each denomination. Blank fields count as zero. Negative numbers, fractional quantities, and quantities above the limit are invalid.

## Can I use the printed slip at my bank?

The printout is a cash-count record showing quantities, denomination amounts, subtotals, and total cash. Your bank may require its own deposit form. The tool does not connect to a bank or make a deposit.

## Are my cash quantities and slip details saved?

Calculation takes place in your browser. Task Pencil does not send these inputs to a server or save them in browser storage. A saved PDF or printed copy contains the slip details you choose to include.
